My daughter is 4 years old and Eileen has been teaching her about the concept of donation and giving back to society.
Being the first grandchild in both our families, Sarah has everything that she can ever ask for….hence Eileen’s determination to ensure that Sarah is rooted firmly in giving thanks for all that we have and in giving back to society whatever God has blessed us with.
Sarah’s first community project came in the form of “The Love Sale”, a jumble sale organized by the Catholic Business Fraternity dedicated to the cause of natural disaster victims. Sarah donated her toddler shoes, baby clothes and toys for a good cause. By doing this, we taught her that she needed to put a focus on others’ needs too instead of just herself.
Even though both our kids have been actively involved in giving tithing to church every week, we wanted a bigger impact for them. When it was time to make our next donation, we got Sarah involved. After some discussion, we decided that Beautiful Gate would be our next beneficiary, as they needed funds to make repairs to an existing home. Sarah was to be our representative to give the cheque to Beautiful Gate Foundation’s Pastor Sia Siew Chin.
Good job Sarah. It’ll be Brendan’s turn next!
