It suddenly occurred to me while coaching someone today, that most people when presented with an opportunity to improve their lives, would first reject the idea and come up with reasons why they cannot do it.
Even I catch myself being occasionally skeptical of being able to achieve more …and I too have to consciously choose to belief. I realize that having a positive or negative outlook is a choice and it is a choice we have to make everyday when we wake up.
There were moments when we faced challenges in our business. I could choose to stay in bed, wake up late or start a facebook page that says “LIFE SUCKS” and get everyone to be a fan. OR I could ask myself “what I can learn from this experience”, call my business coach and just call the next business prospect. In other words, take action that can move my business forward.
SUCCESS DEPENDS ON OUR ENVIRONMENT
My wife Eileen asked a good question during a training session last night, “Why is it that most people find it difficult to stay positive?”
Years ago, one of my business coaches showed me that success is dependant on our environment, and the people that surround our lives make up that environment. There is a saying – if you want to know what kind of person you will be 5 years from now, just look at the people you are surrounded with now, and you will get a pretty good idea.
This is the reason why some people find it so hard to be positive when they are surrounded by a negative father, mother, spouse and/or friends. Thinking back, creating a positive environment was crucial to our transformation. For us, the positive environment came in the form of the right coach and the regular functions and seminars we attended that exposed and expanded our minds to success.
Last week, I met up with a friend who made huge money in business. He showed me his bungalow projects where each one netted him a profit of more than a million ringgit. Being with him opened up my mind about how I can invest the money I make from my businesses to build up my wealth. An hour session with him was worth thousands of self-help books and seminars. Exposure truly leads to Expansion!
Our business gives the common folk a chance to be coached and to learn from successful people. Just think about it, when does an employee, earning say RM2K a month, ever get the chance to have regular coaching sessions with their millionaire boss on how to improve their financial future?
Sushan was one such employee. After working so hard for the company for 6 years, earning just RM2.2K a month, she never once shook the hand of the owner of her company, let alone sit down with him over tea to discuss about her life goals and her ideal income!! Today, by working with us, she’s not only managed to buy a property for her family, she’s also grown more confident and more positive in her outlook of life. I’m so proud of her.
